The sáfdar, or safdar to those who don't speak Elder Lur, is a woodwind instrument used frequently in Illienan classical and folk music. It's timbre is very soft and high pitched, thought by some to have an uplifting sound. It is quite complex; a sáfdar usually has over 16 finger-holes laid out evenly over its long shaft. On its end is a pear shaped bell. The instrument is usually made of wood.
